BRADFORD MODEL ENGINEERING SOCIETY

Railways

Members build and run steam, petrol and battery electric powered locomotives in 3½”, 5” and 7¼” rail

gauges. The society has a recently refurbished club house in Northcliff Woods at Shipley, The entrance being

from Cliffe Wood Avenue, off the main Bradford to Keighley Road (A650) approximately 200 meters on

the Bradford side of the Branch Hotel.

There are two miniature railways at this site, the smaller being a raised oval track some 440 feet long which accommodates

3½” and 5” gauge locomotives. The other more recently constructed ground level railway caters for 5" & 7¼” gauge

locomotives and is approximately 2000 feet long with through line, station line and sidings. Both tracks have steaming bays & turntables.

Both railways carry passengers on Sunday afternoons through out the summer months and in winter on occasions, weather permitting.
